Addressing Anti-Black Racism
(UnLearn and Learn Session Resources)
These UnLearn and Learn session resources provide an opportunity for regulators to learn more about anti-Black racism and how to address it.
Amorell Saunders N’Daw, Principal, Amorell & Co., led a highly engaging conversation that featured storytelling, historical facts and figures, and compelling statistics. Stefanie Muhling, Manager, Standards of Practice and Education Unit, and Olivia Yu, Manager of Communications, from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) then presented about related actions taken and resources developed by the OCT, such as the Professional Advisory on Anti-Black Racism, to build teachers’ (registrants’) awareness of anti-Black racism. (BCG’s resource was mentioned during the session and is included on the Portal as an additional reference.)
The Role of Regulators and Systemic Racism
(CNAR Annual National Conference Recording)
Presented and recorded as part of the CNAR 2020 Conference, this session explores issues of race and racialization within regulated professional contexts. Facilitated by Zubin Austin, Professor and Koffler Research Chair at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, this discussion addresses important issues associated with inclusion, diversity, and equity within regulated professions.
